An unexpected Relay Wire invoice should be checked against your business’s purchasing records before payment. This guide concerns relaywire.app and the fax-service offer described below; it does not identify every sender using a similar name.

What Does the $389 Relay Wire Bill Describe?
A BBB Scam Tracker submission dated July 1, 2026 describes a faxed $389 invoice for “Professional Fax Infrastructure Service,” covering July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. The reporter identifies relaywire.app and says payment was requested by check. Those details describe that person’s report; TIAS has not authenticated their original invoice or determined whether your document has the same sender.
What relaywire.app Advertises
When checked October 17, 2026, the Relay Wire website advertised fax-record tools, including searchable history, routing and delivery records. Its Professional plan was listed at $389 per year or $39 per month. The site describes an added service around an existing fax workflow, so readers should not assume it is their current telephone or fax-line provider.
The site lists 9535 Forest Lane, Suite 114J, Dallas, TX 75243. Its contact page lists hello@relaywire.app for general inquiries. These are website-listed details, not independent verification of the legal operator, service delivery or an individual invoice. A matching advertised price does not establish that your organization agreed to buy the service.
Complaints and Relay Wire’s Responses
Three public BBB complaint records dated June 6, July 1 and July 23, 2026 allege unordered billing. They are anonymous records, not three independently authenticated customers.
| Complaint date | Business response | BBB status checked October 17 |
|---|---|---|
| June 6, 2026 | August 3: attributed the invoice to a software-related billing error and said it was voided. | Resolved; the complainant accepted the response. |
| July 1, 2026 | August 21: said no authorized services or business relationship were recorded and the invoice was voided. | Answered; resolution was not confirmed by the complainant. |
| July 23, 2026 | August 19: said no contract or payment existed, attributed the invoice to an outdated lead form and canceled it. | Resolved; the complainant accepted the response. |
These are the parties’ accounts, not independent audits. The similarly worded July 1 Scam Tracker submission may overlap and is not counted as an additional reporter. These older records do not establish a new October incident.
Why the Older Web Envy Alert Needs Context
The BBB profile’s pattern alert explicitly discusses Web Envy and correspondence from January–February 2025. It should not be presented as a new official finding about Relay Wire. A combined profile or shared address does not, by itself, establish common ownership. This guide does not transfer Web Envy complaint totals to Relay Wire.
How to Check an Unfamiliar Invoice
The FTC’s small-business guidance recommends clear purchasing controls and careful invoice verification. That is general guidance, not an enforcement finding about Relay Wire.
- Check your own records first. Ask the staff member responsible for fax services and accounts payable whether anyone approved a purchase, trial or renewal.
- Compare the providers. Review your existing fax or telecommunications agreement. Ask that provider through a contact you already trust whether this is a separate service.
- Request the authorization. Ask for the order date, agreed price, service period, purchaser’s identity, accepted terms and evidence that the service was activated.
- Keep the dispute in writing. If your records show no authorization, state that clearly and request a written explanation or confirmation that the invoice has been voided.
- Save the result. Retain the invoice and correspondence privately. If money already left the account, contact the bank or payment provider promptly to ask about the available options.
Do not send a new payment, banking credentials, patient records or other sensitive fax content merely to obtain an explanation. You can report suspected deceptive billing through ReportFraud.ftc.gov; making a report does not guarantee recovery.
Relay Wire Invoice FAQs
Is Relay Wire my existing fax provider?
Do not assume so from an invoice. Compare the sender with your signed service agreement and contact the provider already in your records. An add-on service and the company supplying your fax line may be different businesses.
Does my fax number on the invoice prove I ordered?
No. A matching fax number identifies a line; it does not document who agreed to a purchase, which terms they accepted or when service began. Ask for the underlying authorization.
What should accounts payable request?
Request the approved order or agreement, purchaser’s identity, service dates, agreed price and evidence of activation. Compare those records with your own approval process before releasing payment.
Is an invoice the same as a charge to my account?
No. A payment request does not establish that funds were withdrawn. Check the bank or card account separately, and describe accurately whether the issue is an unpaid invoice, an authorized payment you dispute or an unauthorized transaction.
Does a cancellation guarantee a refund?
No. Confirmation that an unpaid invoice is voided differs from a refund of money already paid. If a payment occurred, request its refund status in writing and ask the payment provider about options for that transaction.
